Setting March Aside

Moving On To April

Over the years of participating in The AtoZ April Challenge my favorite Letter A post was in 2014.

Alfred & April's Brush With Disaster
featured a photo from my collection of Vintage Photos and set the theme for 2014's AtoZ Challenge...Fiction from Forgotten Fotos.

Writing from photo prompts has been my inspiration for blogging from day one of blogging.  As an amateur photographer with a Nifty Nikon and a need to roam my home State of Texas, my computer photo files filled to capacity.

Thanks to Blogger's photo storage and my Photo Files, writing AtoZ posts for 7 years on CollectInTexas Gal established a pattern of writing that best suits my story telling.  It's been my go to method of creating an AtoZ Challenge Theme.

So, here I am with an 8th year of AtoZ, a new Blog, a 'Niftyx3 Cell Phone Camera, Photos stored in The Clouds and a renewed need to to put it all down on paper, www (wonder where wireless)...2024 Letter C Computer Technology.

See you tomorrow for AtoZ 2024

I'm A Wee Bit Irish with Scottish Roots

Wannabe Irish/Scottish?  Just Share the Blessings!

If you dig around in your Family Genealogy Records long enough and search far, far and away...you might discover your Irish Roots.

Or, if you are like me...your Scottish Roots and your Irish Kissin' Cousins.

His name was Fleming, and he was a poor Scottish farmer.  One day, while trying to make a living for his family, he heard a cry for help coming from a nearby bog.  He dropped his tools and ran to the bog.  There, mired to his waist in black muck, was a terrified boy, screaming and struggling to free himself.  Farmer Fleming saved the lad from what could have been a slow and terrifying death.

The next day, a fancy carriage pulled up to the Scotsman's sparse surroundings.  an elegantly dressed nobleman stepped out and introduced himself as the father of the boy Farmer Fleming had saved.  "I want to repay you," said the nobleman.  "You saved my son's life."

No, I can't accept payment for what I did, the Scottish farmer replied waving off the offer.  At that moment, the farmer's own son came to the door of the family hovel.  "Is that your son?" the nobleman asked.  "Yes," the farmer replied proudly.  "I'll make you a deal.  Let me provide him with the level of education my own son will enjoy.  If the lad is anything like his father, he'll no doubt grow to be a man we both will be proud of."  And that he did.

Farmer Fleming's son attended the very best schools and in time, graduated from St. Mary's Hospital Medical School in London, and went on to become known throughout the world as the noted Sir Alexander Fleming, the discoverer of Penicillin.

Years afterward, the same nobleman's son who was saved from the bog was stricken with pneumonia.  What saved his life this time?  Penicillin.  The name of the nobleman?  Lord Randolph Churchill...His son's name?  Sir Winston Churchill.

Someone once said...
What goes around comes around.
Work like you don't need the money.
Love like you've never been hurt.
Dance like nobody's watching.
Sing like nobody's listening.
Live like it's Heaven on Earth.
The Irish say...
May there always be work for your hands to do.
May your purse always hold a coin or two.
May the sun always shine on your windowpane.
May God fill your heart with gladness.

May the hand of a friend always be near you.
Happy Saint Patricks Day!

How It Came To Be...Me and AtoZ

In 2009, on a whim and encouraged by a friend, I started a blog.  For days I drew blanks about what to say or do until the friend said, "Sue, you have more collections, interests, experiences and a head full of what you call 'Useless Information'.  Blog about that."  So I did!!!
